On Early Adopting

A small study about the different categories of technology adoption There is a significant difference between being able to make use of and taking advantage of new technologies, and attempting to embrace technology a tad bit too early. However, spotting these differences can be quite a chore, and many people have even stopped trying to acknowledge a difference between the two. In a study performed by Everett Rogers which led to the formulation of a theory called Diffusion of Innovations (DoI), it is said that there are 5 different categories of adopters which are: Innovators, Early Adopters, Early Majority, Late Majority, and Laggards. According to the (DoI) theory formulated by Everett Rogers, early adopters make up 13.5 percent of the population . As long as I can remember, I have been an early adopter of new technologies, whether it be hardware based, or software based. I found it fun to be able to tinker and play around with experimental web browsers, or new app features th...

I had a dream...

I was sitting at a huge silver aluminium or steel fold-out table, in a big hall similar to that of the Liberty LAN hall which it is always hosted in. I was drawing, designing tattoos like I always do in my spare time, and suddenly Jan Blom (I think) came to sit in front of me. As always, I thought, he is such a mess... And he really seemed a mess, I wasn't exaggerating. He did not pay attention to his hair, or even his general looks, and he seemed to be drunk, however that could be left for interpretation. I seemed to know all the people that had been sitting around the table. I hardly spoke to any, but we laughed together, and the atmosphere seemed to be extremely comfortable. If I'm not mistaken, Ian was sitting next to me. A blonde, curly-haired bloke with a bit of a soul-spot, and an extremely witty personality. But that could also have been any other person, you never know with dreams. A short while since Jan sat there, he seemed to grab some of the paper I had ...

Drama, a small essay

Drama is a concept that is not only omnipresent is real life and society, but also in decision making and how we as a people look at things. I am a writer of drama fiction. No matter how much "sci-fi" or "horror" I always attempt to write into my stories, I always end up writing more drama, and honestly, I don't mind that fact in the least. As much as I love my Stephen King novels, or the next, up and coming Stephenie Meyer (save me) book, I always find myself drawn more towards that old and dust covered Jane Austen or Nicholis Sparks novels. This got me thinking, especially as I sat and watched Gossip Girl for the past few hours, exactly how much drama we actually have in our lives. Sure, one would say that drama is what makes life what it is -- it is both excruciating, and wonderful at the same time. One would say that perhaps there are too much drama for one to handle at the same time. But both of those examples are only looking at one aspect of drama: th...

A story about a bug...

Somewhere in the world, a person had just been stung by a bee as you read these last few words. It's true! Go look it up! Scary, isn't it? Which is why people all over the world, have resulted to buying masses of cans of bug spray and other materials for the extinction of the common household bug. Which, and I'm not joking, may very well be a bee. Of some sort. "BUT!" you tell me, "Bugs are scary and need to die!" Well, my dear reader, let me tell you a little story, of a girl. Her name is Lucy. One day, Lucy went to the bathroom so she could brush her teeth. However, upon stretching on her little tipi-toes, and reacher as far as she could to open the bathroom cabinet where her toothbrush and paste were stored, a Huge Gigantic Spider the size of a needle's head jumped out! Enraged at the fact that the building of his newly webbed house had been interrupted, Mr. Huge Gigantic Spider ran out from behind the toothpaste so he could take on this...
